Tuscan Villas: Your Home in the Heart of Italy

Villa La Regina

If you’ve already been to Italy once, chances are you’ve been dreaming of going back. And if you’ve been more than once, you probably already know which corner of the country has your heart. For many of our guests—and for me personally—that place is Tuscany.

There’s something endlessly charming about this region of central Italy. It’s a patchwork of vineyard-covered hills, olive groves, sun-drenched villages, and towns steeped in Renaissance art and medieval architecture. But what makes it truly magical isn’t just what you see—it’s how it makes you feel. And there’s no better way to soak up that feeling than by settling into your own private villa.

Why a Villa?

Renting a villa gives you something that even the finest hotel can’t: a sense of ownership, of place, of peace. You’re not rushing from one city to the next, constantly unpacking and repacking your bags. Instead, you’re rooted. You wake up to the same view of rolling hills every morning, hear the same distant church bells each afternoon, and watch the sun set from your terrace every evening—with a glass of Chianti in hand, of course.

And you don’t need a big group to justify it. Yes, villas are perfect for celebrating a milestone birthday or anniversary with family and friends (and we can find you something grand enough for 20 guests or more), but they’re just as magical when it’s only two of you. A romantic hideaway with a pool and a view? We know a few.

My Villa Story

I might be biased. Many moons ago, just after Christmas, I flew from the UK to Florence to meet up with my then-girlfriend (now wife) Emma. About 45 minutes later, we arrived at one of the most beautiful properties I’ve ever seen—tucked into the Tuscan countryside, lined with cypress trees, and full of old stone charm.

Unbeknownst to me, her family had rented it for New Year's. We pulled up the gravel drive to a warm house with fires lit and cozy bedrooms ready. We spent our days wine tasting in atmospheric cellars, exploring hilltop towns, and even joining locals on an impromptu fungi-hunting expedition—arranged, naturally, after a bit too much wine at the village taverna the night before. (We found maybe six mushrooms, but the muddy hike and celebratory lunch that followed made it a day to remember.)

Evenings were for lingering meals around the oak table, sipping wine in front of the fire, and enjoying the kind of relaxed rhythm you rarely get on a fast-paced holiday. People often think of Tuscany as a summer destination—and it’s glorious in July—but I can tell you from experience that fall, winter, and spring are just as magical, with fewer crowds, friendlier locals, and all the charm still intact.

Villas Done Your Way

What makes a villa holiday so special is the flexibility. You can hire a chef and make it feel like your own private hotel, or cook with fresh local ingredients from the village market. Some of our guests like to stay for two weeks and invite different friends or family to come and go during their stay—three days with the kids, a week with friends, a few days solo. It’s your villa, your rules.

We can arrange a wide variety of hand-picked properties—from simple, charming two-bedroom homes to fully staffed estates and historic castles. And our Experts have personally inspected each one. Whether you want to be near Florence, in the heart of Chianti, or tucked away in a rural corner of the Maremma, we’ll match you with the perfect base.

Not Just Tuscany…

While Tuscany will always be a favorite, we can arrange stunning villa stays across Italy: on the Amalfi Coast, in the Italian Lakes, Puglia, Umbria, Lazio, Sardinia, and even within striking distance of Rome. Many of these destinations work beautifully year-round—perfect for a spring getaway, an autumn food-and-wine escape, or a cozy winter retreat.

Ready to Feel at Home in Italy?

A villa holiday in Tuscany isn’t just a trip—it’s a way of life, if only for a little while. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply want to travel a little slower and deeper, we’d love to help you find the perfect place to call home.
